Here are some important things to consider when building garages.

Heating Your Garage

There are three good options for heating your garage: forced air garage heaters, infrared garage heaters, and electric garage heaters. Portable electric heaters are inexpensive and require very little maintenance. They don’t burn fuel, so they provide you a safe heating source with no possibility of carbon monoxide poisoning.

Cooling Your Garage

The best cooling options for cooling your garage, whether it is an attached or detached garage, are window units and commercial A/C floor units designed for warehouses and factories. Window units will be less expensive but require a window to mount in. If you don’t have a window in the garage, you’ll need to cut a hole in the wall to mount your window unit. Insulating Your Garage To turn your garage into a comfortable space, you’ll need the right insulation for the ceiling, walls, and garage door. Fiberglass batting is a good choice for insulating the ceiling and walls. Garage doors will need fiberglass batting, foam panels or a garage door that is already insulated as well as weatherstripping around openings.
